Riding4Research Day 14 Watson Lake, Yukon > Coal River, BC 95 miles

A long tough day with roughly 10 mile-long hills at roughly 8 percent grade. The hills have returned as I move into the spine of the Canadian Rockies, where I will likely be for about another 3 weeks.  I punched into British Columbia, which means that I am south at the 60th parallel for the first time since Anchorage, I believe.


It was a good day to cycle. After an early rain, the sun boomed through and the temps were perfect for riding.  I pedaled right by one black bear and one bison, right by the side of the road!

The mighty Liard River was just off my starboard for the last 20 miles of the ride…short video is here…
