Our research focuses on metastasis, the spread of cancer from its original site. More than 90% of cancer patients die from metastasis.
Our research studies the genes that promote metastasis in dogs and humans to find better treatments for two species at once!
By being able to watch metastasis as it happens, we have identified genes we think are responsible for these changes. Now, we are trying to test if these genes can be shut off to stop cancer from spreading. Our hope is that we can stop metastasis and prevent cancer deaths.
